We took Calista to Washington, DC for the Easter Weekend and stayed with Scott's friend Jeff and his girlfriend Lori. Thanks again for your incredible hospitality! We know it's not easy having your friends on the couch and a 2-year old in the other room -- basically taking up the whole place the whole time! The good news is that they lived 1/2 block from a Starbucks so when Calista got up early I could take her across the street for a hot chocolate. (We of course think Jeff makes better lattes and hot cocoa than Starbucks!)We saw my sister and Michelle too, as well as our friends Steve, Karen and their little boy Ben. It was a whirlwind sort of weekend, but great to see everyone! Steve and Karen split a babysitter with us the first night, and Kirsten babysat for us Saturday, so we were able to go out a bit as well.

Day One:
Trip to the Zoo with Karen, Steve and Ben. Wow -- a free zoo in DC. I am so jealous. But also super crowded. As Scott says, maybe admission fees keep out the riff raff. In any case, we all loved seeing the Orangutans climbing high above us on their tight ropes. Every zoo needs this!
Day Two:
Calista and I slept at Steve and Karen's so Ben and Calista got to play with each other in the morning. They got along really well, and are really cute together. Karen also lent us an Elmo potty training book, which Calista still reads all the time. Then Scott, Kirsten and I took Calista to the Natural History Museum (too crowded!) and opted for the carousel instead. Much better. Back at Jeff and Lori's Calista serenaded us with, "Let's Go Red Sox" (uh....thanks Jeff!?) and then later changed it to, "Let's Go Outside." You'll hear Calista say, "Lori says Let's Go Red Sox" which is a little unfortunate because actually Lori prefers the Kansas City Royals. We think Calista loved Lori especially because she had Cookie Monster slippers which Calista wore ALL the time we were there. A kindred spirit for little missy. :-)

Kiki brought by a special basket from the Easter Bunny for Calistsa Bunny. Little missy still wears the bunny ears around, and loves her Cinderella cup with a straw. Kiki is the best aunt ever. We miss you!
Then we all went to the Dupont Circle Farmer's Market for goodies for dinner (lamb kebabs and Mediterranean yumminess). Calista showed us her glamour side wearing my Chanel sunglasses.My friend Michelle took the bus down from NY later that day and Kirsten, Michelle and I took had a much-appreciated escape to Georgetown for some fun shopping. Thanks again for making the trek down to see us! Michelle taught Calista a new version of "This Little Piggy" which had new verses like, "This Little Piggy Went to Prada to Buy Some Shoes" and even tonight Calista wanted me to do "Little Piggies" in the chair, and insists on "other foot" once I've gone through 5 toes. It's a scream.
