Little Missy Misses LA

We had such a great time seeing everyone and miss you all terribly! Come and visit us soon!

Calista Loves Uncle Matt

Even tho she might drive him to drink...

More Fun in LA

While Matt and Josh went to a wedding on Saturday, Scott and I went out to Santa Monica again to see our friends Laura and Munir's new place and meet their baby girl Penelope, and then have dinner with Michelle and our friend Peter (center at the dinner table) who moved to Venice a few months ago. Such a small world -- they all literally live within a three-block radius from one another. So we know where to move to in SoCal (just kidding). The other folks at the dinner table are Pete's co-workers from Digital Domain who were super nice and would totally be our friends if we lived in Venice!

Santa Monica and the Brady Boys

The next day we went to the Santa Monica pier. (We had planned to go the Hotel Vicroy, but in typical Hollywood fashion it was closed because they were making a film there!) Nevertheless, we had a great time strolling down the boardwalk and hanging out at the beach. That night we got a babysitter and went out with Matt and Josh...such a treat to have quality time with them! We had a true celebrity sighting too -- we had dinner at the same restaurant as Jessica Alba at a little crepe restaurant around the corner from Matt's place. So that was exciting for us.

Calista's First Trip to the Beach

We went to LA during Urban's spring break and stayed with Scott's brother Matt. We had a great time! The first day we went to Venice to see my friend Michelle who's editing an indie film featuring Hilary Duff. It was Calista's first time in the ocean -- the water was still chilly so it wasn't her favorite experience ever, but it was still fun and she looked darling in her pink bikini that my dad and Mary (Mummy) got her.

Calista Meets Kim

Scott and Kim ran into eachother on BART and it was great to reconnect with her. She's also pregnant (it's a girl!) so we can't wait for Calista to have another girlfriend. Calista also fell in love with Kim's hat that she knitted. Calista usually doesn't like hats, but she actually didn't want to take this one off and we had to distract her while Kim hid it in her purse so we could say goodbye!

Grownup Time!

We got together with Tyler and Nathalie and Stacey and Doug for a triple girl birthday dinner at Medjool. Stacey will be moving to Montreal this year to be with Doug and we are very sad for us but happy for her. (Doug happens to be Steve Beeson's brother, who is featured earlier in this blog with his wife Karen and son Ben.)

Playing with Bear and Brushing Teeth before Bedtime

Cat in Hat? No...Calista in Hat! (Technically it's a bucket...)

One of the many games we like to play!

Miss Mary Mack Mack Mack

I got Calista this sing-along Miss Mary Mack book, and she tries so hard to sing it herself! It's the cutest thing ever. If you listen closely, you can hear her get the cadence spot on. I think the video of her orating on the bench gives us a neat insight into her personality.

Finger Painting

Calista tried finger painting for the first time, and loved it. I'll definitely have to do more art projects with her.

Kina's Birthday BBQ!

Our friend Kina celebrated her birthday by visiting from Hawaii and having a BBQ on a gorgeous, sunny day in the Marina. (That's Kina closest to Calista.) Calista was in heaven because she could walk everywhere on the grass and Sid's nephews had a big red wagon she could ride around in.

A Big Girl with her Bottle

Calista's favorite thing to do now is drink her morning bottle in her chair. It's so sad I have to start weaning her off the bottle because she loves it so much!

Uncle Matt!

Uncle Matt was in town to film the Olympic torch passing through SF (and the associated protests). It was great to see him, and Calista was thrilled to have a new reading partner.

Calista at the playground

Scott and I took Calista to the Duboce playground the first weekend of April. She is fearless -- I definitely admire her confidence and optimism on the slide.

Munchkin in a Bathrobe

(March 26)

Feet or Spoon? Or both?

Calista decided her foot worked just fine as an alternative spoon device. Silly girl! But oh so cute!

Easter Sunday

We went out for Easter brunch at Chow on Church, and then walked over to the Duboce Park playground. Calista was in heaven riding on Scott's shoulders. On our way back we traversed through Dolores Park where an alternative Easter celebration (a la drag queen) was in full swing. Love San Francisco. :-) Back home, we took Calista on a tricycle ride down the block, which she takes very seriously.

More eating with a spoon...

(March 22)

Prada Baby

Calista loves clothes and shoes. This comes as no surprise to me, but her dad is a bit perplexed! She figured out how to put her skirt over the cone, and drape her red cardigan over her shoulders (very 1980s preppy!) all by herself and is clearly very pleased.

St. Patty's Day

Calista learned how to stack 3 blocks on top of each other. Check out her cute shamrock sticker too!

Eating with a Spoon!

Calista decided she'd like to feed herself with a spoon today (March 16). Will wonders never cease?

Standing Tall!

Calista really loves standing on her Dora the Explorer push car. She loves standing on pretty much everything, come to think of it, but this is extra fun it seems.

Calista Meets the Beesons

Our friends Steve and Karen in DC brought their darling 7-month-old son Benjamin to CA recently. We got together with Tyler and Nathalie at their place in Palo Alto, and good times were had by all, especially the munchkins who made fast friends! (Also, her very cute dress is from Scott's Aunt Pat.)

Calista's Perch

Calista loves climbing up and sitting on top of her toy chest. This photo was taken on March 13 -- I got a little behind on the blog due to Urban's Auction on the 29th! Will try and get back up to date here really soon...

Calista & Gavin

Last month, Michelle took Calista to City Hall for the raising of the Irish flag for St. Patrick's Day. Little missy must have made quite the impression because here she is with our mayor, Gavin Newsom himself! (That's Michelle's sister-in-law and niece on the left.)
