Stephanie and Theo Visit

Finally, some good influences! Stephanie and Theo drop by. Theo flirts outrageously.

3 generations again

We need to get Calista some sort of black outfit she can wear so she can be cool like Dad and Grandpa. :)

Brisen Scott and Calista

Here we are in the Victorian Mansion B&B that my dad is staying at a few blocks from our place. Strangely enough for being in the Mission, it was originally a farm house where they raised horses for the horse track in the 1800's that was where San Francisco General Hospital now stands.

3 Generations of Bradys

Grandpa: "Aren't you cute!"
Calista: "Is that shirt some sort of synthetic blend? Seriously. Is it still the 70's in Connecticut? Dad tells me your hair was once that same color?"

Calista and Grandpa Brady

Lucky Calista was born when she was, because the "Grandpa Brady" nickname was getting awkward...

Grandpa comes to visit

Here's a classic photo of Scott and his Dad when Scott is just over 1 year old, in the fall of 1974. Yes, they are both holding beer cans as Scott looks adoringly at his father. We're pretty sure that there wasn't actually beer in Scott's can.

So dad (now grandpa) comes to visit. How will Calista fare? Stay tuned!

Calista likes to cuddle

Mom and baby rest peacefully.

paparazzi attack!

surprise!

awwww....sleeping angel

Isn't she cute?
Slightly ironic as I'm posting this while she is screaming at the top of her lungs squirming around in my lap. But cute!

Mom and Calista hit the Cafe scene

We all went for our first walk around the neighborhood together. Calista loved her car seat stroller, especially the snuggly car seat addition from Grandma Eloise's (and good Brady family) friend Liz Welsh. She falls asleep instantly upon getting into it.
Mom had a nice hot chocolate and made some plans for relaxing during her maternity leave...

Calista meets Stacey

"no seriously, I heard something. I think you need to take her back now."
-Stacey Koprince, 2/24/07

The Great Battle of the Sponge Bath

The horror! All that innocent dirt destroyed. For what, I ask! For what! I cry out in my loudest voice to protest. I loathe thee, sponge.
- Calista Brady, 2/23/07

football hold, round 2

Victory to the football hold! she can't resist how soothing it is and takes a nap.

If you think I'm good looking...

..you should see my Aunt.

Aunt Kirsten comes out to visit very soon and we are very excited about it. In the meantime, cute outfit...grumpy baby.

She is currently sitting behind me while I blog, finally calmed down a bit with the combination of:
1) swaddling
2) the papasan ultimate baby distractor (see previous picture)
3) womb noises bear
Ah, the joys of parenthood.

Please consider getting your whooping cough shot

Whooping cough is coming back, and can kill infants (who don't get the vaccine until they are a few months old. Last year there was big outbreak in NY. It is included as part of the tetanus and diptheria vaccine now (didn't used to) so you'd also be updating that imporant vaccine at the same time. Please get your vaccine. Wouldn't you feel bad if you accidentally killed a baby because you didn't?

See links below for more info.

Calista's first video

Checking out the Papasan

It spins, it rocks, it makes noises...fun for everyone!

In the Carseat

Apparently the car seat is very soothing. She drops right out as soon as she gets in it.

baby as football

Calista does not look confident in Dad's sport skills.

Brisen comforts Calista

Calista begins recovery process after being held by Sid.

Sid holds Calista

Sid begins training Calista in her role as "bait" for attracting women...

The first guests visit

Sid and Kathy to the rescue! Potts shows expert baby techniques, begins Calista's figure skating training, teaches some basic Canadian terminology. Brisen naps.

Scott finds an instruction manual

Somewhere in here it has to tell me how I can train her to bring me a beer...

Womb Sounds Bear does it again

relaxing in the Papasan

Notice the tight swaddling...really is an art form. Somewhat amazing that they find this calming but I guess the womb was fairly constricting.

scott v baby, round 1

Note that her left hand has already escaped Dad's expert swaddle. She's crafty...

team nap

Calista meets Womb-sounds bear

This bear is the greatest thing ever. Makes noises that are supposedly authentic in-the-womb. I guess takes care of baby homesickness. In any event, it calms her down and puts her to sleep (combined with some good swaddling).

Mom and Baby

All wrapped up and looking cute

Here's Calista in a classic swaddle, sleeping peacefully.

After

There was a long dark tunnel, I just went towards the light...
I'm going to hold onto this tube for safety until I figure out what is going on.

Before

Before! Brisen goes in for a little monitoring, then Scott is sent home around 11pm as "nothing is going to happen til morning."

Brisen promptly goes into labor around 11:30pm. Scott gets call at 1:30 am on February 15th to get back to the hospital ASAP.

Contemplating Calista

Here she is...tiny and beautiful. Though, Brisen might argue the tiny part as she came in at over 8 lbs.
My first thoughts:
You're beautful, I love you!
Shouldn't there be some sort of licensing process before I get to take you home?
How in the world do I set you down successfully?
Her first thoughts:
Is that some sort of...hair product you have going on there, buddy?
What did you do with my best friend the placenta?
