Theo's First Birthday

Today was Theo's First Birthday Party (cowboy-themed) and Calista's first time going to a friend's birthday party. Fun was had by all. Calista loved playing with the balloon tied to the tambourine, but wasn't so thrilled wearing a cowboy hat, city slicker baby that she is. Theo's mommy and papa (Stephanie and Terry) were amazing hosts and BBQ'd up a storm. Thanks for inviting us!

Calista and the Howes

Calista got to meet Sydney before she leaves for France on Thursdsay (bon voyage!), and see Wendy, Don and Brendan again (plus Chester the dog). Hope to see you all again soon!

Scott's Birthday BBQ

Scott's birthday at Dolores Park was lots of fun. Our friends Shelley and Rotem dropped by with their two sons, Ethan and Elliot.

A New Trick!

All by herself, Calista wrapped herself in the book that Karla's mom made for her. I thought it was so precious I had to take a picture!

Pediatrician Update and Message from Mommy

Calista went to the pediatrician for her six-month check up on the 17th and now weighs 17 pounds 3 ounces and is 26 ¾” long. Her head is 43.6 cm – up from 34 cm when she was 5 days old! She is still in the 75th percentile for both her height and weight – and is just cuter than ever. At the doctor’s office she was entranced by the tissue paper they lay over the table. She LOVED playing with the paper and hearing the crackling sound it made.

These days, Calista likes sitting up by herself and is really into finding what she is capable of doing with her hands. Today in the bath, she was having a blast playing with her rubber ducky and just did not want to let go of it.

She is a total sweetheart and has such a happy outlook on life. She is getting two bottom teeth now (you can start to really see them!) and maybe some on top, so she is a little fussier than normal, but really not too bad! All in all, she loves to laugh and smile. It is especially cute when she meets new people – she will smile but then dig her head into my neck or shoulder like she is pretending to be shy. Coy little thing!

A couple of other noteworthy milestones: she started sleeping through the night in her crib in her nursery at 5 ½ months (although every now and then she has a bad night and wakes up to nurse). She likes to go to bed usually around 7:30 pm and wakes up anywhere between 6-7:30 am. She’s eating two meals a day (lunch and dinner) which consist of rice cereal and a fruit and a vegetable. She’s a really good eater. And the big news is that she now takes a bottle! Hurrah! She guzzles them down once again – thank goodness.

I am back at work full-time M-Th, and will add Fridays in September. Although it’s hard being away from her all day, I definitely appreciate the time we have together, and count the minutes until each weekend!

Dara and Kristina Visit

My coworkers from CSMA came to visit -- and Calista liked catching up with them too!

Smiling for Scott

Scott and Calista at Fritz

Yes...we actually ate french fries three times in one week! It is bad, very bad, having Fritz (a Belgium cafe that serves out-of-this-world french fries, mussels and crepes) down the street from us now.

Calista goes on the Carousel

We met Amanda, Jeff and Mirabella at the Golden Gate Park Children's Playground and took the girls on the carousel. Calista loved it! She is such a good sport.

Calista and her Feet

She loves playing with these shoes that my mom bought her.

Tickle Me Calista

Calista loves being tickled by her mommy, and being read to by her beloved Nonni! Hopefully we will come up to Oregon again soon. (By the way, Calista is wearing a cute dress from Aunt Kirsten with African animals on it. We miss you sister!) xoxo

Fun in the Sun

We went to Garfield Park in Ashland with my mom, Lori and Evan. More fun photos!

Calista with Mary

Sweet photos with my stepmom.

Calista's Music Lesson

I take a shower, and in that short time Calista learns to play the bells, piano and harp! My dad is an awesome teacher. As you will hear in the video clip, I think Calista is more of an imressionist, improvisational player at the moment, taking after her grandfather's jazz roots more than her mother's classical training!

Social Butterfly

Calista got to spend more time with my best friend Amanda who I've known since I was 5, along with her husband Jeff (who teaches at the elementary school in Ashland we attended!) and her darling daughter Mirabella (who now attends Bellview School!). Mirabella had a little doll named "Calista" when we were visiting. It was sooooo cute, my heart melted.

And Calista got to see my Grandpa Charles who turned 92 last month, and my Aunt Susan.

Lori Anderson's Professional Photo Shoot!

Gorgeous photos of Calista by Lori. She really captured Calista's personality, heart and soul.

Calista Goes to Ashland!

Calista and I spent last weekend in Ashland Oregon visiting my family. We had such a good time and loved seeing my family. Miss you guys!
Here we are in Lithia Park with my mom and our dear family friends Lori, Curt and Evan. Lori took some gorgous photos, some of which are included in this Ashland series. Thanks Lori!
