Calista went to the pediatrician for her six-month check up on the 17th and now weighs 17 pounds 3 ounces and is 26 ¾” long. Her head is 43.6 cm – up from 34 cm when she was 5 days old! She is still in the 75th percentile for both her height and weight – and is just cuter than ever. At the doctor’s office she was entranced by the tissue paper they lay over the table. She LOVED playing with the paper and hearing the crackling sound it made.
These days, Calista likes sitting up by herself and is really into finding what she is capable of doing with her hands. Today in the bath, she was having a blast playing with her rubber ducky and just did not want to let go of it.
She is a total sweetheart and has such a happy outlook on life. She is getting two bottom teeth now (you can start to really see them!) and maybe some on top, so she is a little fussier than normal, but really not too bad! All in all, she loves to laugh and smile. It is especially cute when she meets new people – she will smile but then dig her head into my neck or shoulder like she is pretending to be shy. Coy little thing!
A couple of other noteworthy milestones: she started sleeping through the night in her crib in her nursery at 5 ½ months (although every now and then she has a bad night and wakes up to nurse). She likes to go to bed usually around 7:30 pm and wakes up anywhere between 6-7:30 am. She’s eating two meals a day (lunch and dinner) which consist of rice cereal and a fruit and a vegetable. She’s a really good eater. And the big news is that she now takes a bottle! Hurrah! She guzzles them down once again – thank goodness.
I am back at work full-time M-Th, and will add Fridays in September. Although it’s hard being away from her all day, I definitely appreciate the time we have together, and count the minutes until each weekend!
